Gaming Innovation Group has announced that its GiG Media division will be rebranded as Gentoo Media.

Gentoo Media will now be the trademark of this company, which will consist of GiG’s media services, as well as its affiliate lead-generation services.

GiG stated that the name change was due to its affiliation with the performance marketing company Rebel Penguin. GiG purchased Rebel Penguin as part of the media division in 2017 for EUR13.0m ($13.9m/PS10.9m).

Gentoo is a name that comes from a penguin of the Antarctic region, which can join together as one unit.

This rebranding comes over a full year after GiG’s strategic review. The company announced that it would spin-off and separate the Sportsbook and Media Betting businesses in order to “sharpen its focus” and maximise growth opportunities.

The platform and the sportsbook have been the main focus of progress so far. Richard Carter, the former SBTech CEO was selected to head this division. In August 2023 Andrew Cochrane, a senior executive at SBTech as well as DraftKings was promoted to chief business officer.

GiG announced in April that it would divide the Platform and Sportsbook businesses between its shareholders later this year.

GiG announced at the time that it had evaluated different board structures. It explained that this was done to maximize business opportunities for the two entities.

Milestone Moment

Jonas Warrer said the GiG Media spin-off was a major step forward.

He said, “The launch is an important milestone in our process to separate GiG Media and Gaming Innovation Group.” The new brand, Gentoo, was created for all of our employees and partners, to ensure that we communicate a true and accurate view of who we are, what the company stands for, and how much value and trust they have in us.

Warrer said, “The launch and future of Gentoo is exciting. We couldn’t possibly be happier about the prospects for our business.”

Mikael Harstad added that the GiG rebranding was critical for shareholder value.

He said that the rebranding of GiG Media was a crucial moment for the division of Gaming Innovation Group in two separate businesses. It is also a step vital in increasing shareholder value.

The launch of Gentoo, a new Linux distribution for the desktop and laptops is an indication of how committed the organization is to providing superior results and quality in all aspects of its business. It is also a good start to the company.

GiG expands its portfolio through two new acquisitions

GiG completed two acquisitions of suppliers in June.

In the beginning of this month, it purchased Casinomeister’s forum and reviews platform for EUR3,0m. In the deal agreement, Casinomeister was to continue operating under its existing brand within GiG Media’s portfolio.

GiG has announced that it will acquire SEO and Content Services specialist Titan, for EUR3.2m. GiG is paying EUR1.0m at closing, EUR1.0m again after 12 months, and EUR1.2m as a final payment 24 months later.
