The new golf experiment the TGL tees off today and will do so with the backing of FanDuel Sportsbook as its official betting partner.
The leaue pits teams representing six different cities against each other in a season of match-ups. Each match pits teams against each other playing on a 64×46 foot golf simulator in tandem with a short-game course on site. The custom course is hosted at Palm Beach State College in Florida.
Golf pros Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are some of the investors behind the venture as well as players on the team. The duo founded TMRW Sports along with Mike McCarley, formerly of NBC Sports. TMRW Sports is the group behind TGL and hopes to develop other tech-driven sports initiatives.
Other notables taking part include Collin Morikawa, Rickie Fowler, Justin Rose and Adam Scott.
FanDuel will offer live odds on matches that will also be integrated into the broadcast on ESPN. Ther are also future plans to incorporate odds into the official TLG app and website.
“As its inaugural season gets underway, we look forward to partnering with TGL to create a robust offering of bet types for fans to wager on throughout the season,” said Senior Vice President and General Manager of FanDuel Sportsbook Karol Corcoran. “As an official Sports Betting Partner of TGL in the U.S., we’ll create an engaging experience that brings fans closer to this exciting new golf experience.”
The broadcast partnership also includes a mid-match show sponsored by FanDuel called FanDuel Intermission.
“FanDuel is one of the most recognizable names in not only sports gambling but in all of sports. Adding them to our growing roster of partners underscores our commitment to excellence as we continue to build out our commercial program for TGL presented by SoFi,” added TMRW Sports CRO Jason Langwell.
The first TGL match between the New York and Bay Golf Clubs airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN.
