Two months after debuting in Michigan, DraftKings Electric Poker is coming to Pennsylvania.
The three-person Sit & Gos are housed within the DraftKings Casino app as opposed to on a separate poker client like other regulated U.S. competitors. Players buy-in to the tournament knowing they can win anywhere from two to 10,000 times their buy-in. The structure is rapid with two-minute levels and a point where, if play is still going, everyone is forced all in.
“Electric Poker is one of many innovative games on DraftKings Casino, which houses exclusive products that players can’t get anywhere else,” said Vice President of iGaming Marketing and Operations at DraftKings Jason March. “After positive feedback from our players in Michigan, we are thrilled to expand our Electric Poker offerings to our customers in Pennsylvania, delivering them a best-in-class online poker experience.”
As in Pennsylvania, buy-ins on the game range from $1-$25.
The announcement comes as the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) starts taking steps to join the Multi State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA). The move is years in the making and opens up the opportunity for Pennsylvania online poker sites can pool players with Nevada, New Jersey and Michigan. West Virginia is also part of the compact but, to date, no online poker site has launched in the state.
Given the three-person format, Electric Poker is not a product that needs a tremendous amount of liquidity to be successful, so the future compacting of the two states would likely have little impact on the current state of the Electric Poker product.
