Racecourse Media Group has appointed Ben Dowding as chief betting officer.

Dowding assumes the role following the merging of the organization’s domestic betting team and its international betting team. He had previously been director of betting for Racecourse Media Group.

RMG decided to merge its teams, as many bookmakers now approach rights acquisition globally. Dowding now takes on the role of overseeing the expanded team.

Dowding has been a member of RMG’s team since March 2013, when he joined as the head of partnerships. After joining RMG in March 2013, Dowding was appointed head of B2B, and later director of betting. He held the latter position for over six years.

Dowding was previously employed by The Jockey Club. He worked as a regional sponsorship manager, and also served as a sponsorship manager.

He has also been a BocaSports non-executive board member for three years.

Nick Mills, RMG’s chief commercial officer said: “Ben is a very experienced professional in this sector.” I wish him success in leading his team and capturing new opportunities on the international stage.

Dowding said: “I’m delighted that I have been asked by the company to take on more responsibilities in international markets.” This new approach will provide significant opportunities for British and Irish racing to increase revenues and raise awareness.
