Online gambling operator Stake is set to expand its presence into Demark after entering into an agreement to acquire MocinoPlay, the company behind the VinderCasino brand.

Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed, and the acquisition remains subject to approval by Denmark regulator Spillemyndigheden. Stake did not say when it expects to complete the purchase of MocinoPlay.

The deal, Stake said, supports its ongoing strategic push into regulated markets around the world. Stake does not yet have a presence in Denmark and said the acquisition would establish a foothold in Northern Europe.

Brais Pena, chief strategy officer at Easygo, the company behind Stake, reiterated this growth strategy. Pena said that the acquisition grants access to another “high-value” market with “exciting” growth opportunities.

“We are demonstrating our clear ability to be successful in highly regulated markets,” Pena said. “This provides us with a blueprint for entry in other territories where compliance is crucial.

“The team behind MocinoPlay have done an impressive job in growing the VinderCasino brand in the Danish market. We look forward to integrating Stake’s winning formula to super-charge this growth and reach even more Danish players.”

Stake pushes for global growth

The deal comes just days after Stake launched in the newly regulated Brazilian market, which officially opened on 1 January. Stake secured a licence in the country towards the end of last year ahead of the launch.

Stake has also focused on adding assets in regulated markets through M&A activity. Last July, Stake acquired Italy-based Baldo Line and its Idealbet.it brand, securing it a presence in the country.

In November 2023, Snake also snapped up Betfair Colombia, which provided initial access into Latin America. Its reach in the region has further expanded following its roll-out in Brazil this month.

“We have already expanded our local presence in Latam and Southern Europe, so making our mark in the north was the clear next step,” Pena said.

Peter Eugen Clausen, CEO of MocinoPlay, added: “Easygo is setting new standards in the gambling industry, and we are thrilled to be part of this journey.

“The combination of our team’s local expertise and Stake’s exceptional product and brand creates a winning formula. We look forward to introducing Stake to the Danes.”
