Esports Entertainment Group has established a multi-year partnership with Twin River Worldwide Holdings, paving its way into the New Jersey sports betting market. The company plans to launch a proprietary mobile app that will enable users in New Jersey to place bets on various esports events. Currently, esports betting in the state is only allowed by the Division of Gaming Enforcement on a case-by-case basis. However, a bill filed by Assemblymember Ralph Caputo in January aims to relax these restrictions, enabling betting alongside traditional sports. Bill A637 successfully passed the New Jersey Assembly in late July and is now under consideration by the Senate's State Government, Wagering, Tourism & Historic Preservation Committee. The partnership and launch are dependent on Twin River securing the necessary regulatory approvals to finalize its acquisition of Bally’s Atlantic City Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
