Esports Entertainment Group, a betting operator focused on esports, has expressed its intention to acquire specific assets from the mobile gaming studio Flip Sports. While the financial details of the agreement remain undisclosed, the deal will grant Esports Entertainment control over Flip Sports' staff and intellectual property upon its completion. Flip Sports is known for its proprietary in-play, peer-to-peer technology, which enhances the viewing experience for fans and bettors engaged in live sports events. John Brackens, the chief information officer and chief technology officer of Esports Entertainment, praised the Flip team as leaders in developing igaming platforms that elevate player experiences. He emphasized that their expertise will bolster Esports Entertainment’s efforts in esports and enhance its immersive offerings for fans. Chief executive Grant Johnson noted that the acquisition aligns with the company's strategy during a phase of significant growth opportunities. He remarked that as the first US-based igaming company listed on Nasdaq, the organization is well-positioned to take advantage of the fragmented esports market and will actively seek further acquisition prospects, labeling Flip as a key component of their roll-up strategy. This move follows Esports Entertainment's previous acquisition of Argyll Entertainment, which occurred last month. The company is also working with Akur Capital, an independent capital markets adviser, to identify additional merger and acquisition opportunities.
