Overall gambling revenue in Denmark increased 7.8% year-on-year in November, driven by double-digit growth within the country’s online casino market.
Revenue for November reached DKK654 million (£74.1 million/€87.6 million/$90.7 million), Denmark regulator Spillemyndigheden reports. This is ahead of DKK608 million in the same month of previous year and 6.0% higher than October 2024.
As has been the case for some time, online casino generated the most revenue during the month. In total, revenue from this segment hit DKK295 million, up 17.9% year-on-year and 3.9% above October’s total.
Slots accounted for 77.4% of all online casino revenue in November. Blackjack drew 6.7%, roulette 6.6%, poker 3.5%, bingo 3.1% and other games 2.7%.
Minimal growth elsewhere in Denmark
While online casino continues to expand at a rapid rate, other segments also grew but at a much slower place.
Sports betting was the next highest segment in terms of revenue, generating DKK232 million for the month. This is only 0.3% more than in November of the previous year.
Some 65.4% of all sports betting revenue came from mobile betting, with desktop wagering generating 14.7%. The remaining 19.9% was from bets placed at retail locations across Denmark.
Elsewhere, physical slot machines contributed DKK95 million to the overall figure, a rise of 1.9%. Of this, 79.3% came from machines in gaming halls and the other 20.7% from slots in restaurants.
Finally, land-based casino revenue for the month topped DKK31 million, a year-on-year rise of 0.8%.
ROFUS registrations nearing 55,000
In addition to revenue insight, Spillemyndigheden published data related to responsible gambling measures, including the ROFUS national self-exclusion scheme.
By the end of November, 54,704 people were signed up to ROFUS. Males account for 77.8% of all registrants and females 22.3%. Of all those registered, some 65.9% have elected to self-exclude from gambling permanently.
On top of this, StopSpillet, a service providing advice and guidance to those concerned over their gambling habits, took 39 calls during the month.
