Colorado sports betting handle nears $600.0m in March

Sports wagering by Colorado consumers increased 20% year-onyear in March to $593,1m ($593.1m/PS475.7m/EUR556,8m). The state reported an increase in revenues.

Handle had a significant margin over the $494,4m wagered in March of last year. The $537.0m bet by Colorado’s players in February of this year was 10.5% more.

In March, online betting represented $589.3m out of the total sports wagering. In March, Colorado retail sportsbooks took in an additional $3.7 million.

The increase in revenue was also a result of the increased handle. Gross gaming revenues from sports reached $45.0m in March. The revenue is 27.1% higher than the $35.4m of March 2023, and 74.4 % more than February’s $25.6m.

Retail’s portion of the revenue from online gambling was just $165.765.

Basketball bets reach $299.0m during March

In Colorado, basketball was the most popular sport to bet on in March. Basketball was the sport of choice for bettors in Colorado during March.

In fact, the college basketball game was the second-most popular bet in this month. $36.3m worth of wagers were placed. Tennis was ranked third, with $29.3m of wagers.

Table tennis, with bets of $14.1m, and football, at $21.1m, are also notable sports. Parlay bets and combinations totalled 125.4 million dollars in March.

Sports betting generated $548.1m for players in the last month. This includes $544.5m on-line and $3.6m retail.

Colorado generated $2.9m in tax revenue, which was almost entirely derived from the online gambling industry.
