The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) announced on Thursday that Executive Director Keith Whyte has left the organization effective Jan. 13, 2025.

Whyte had been with the NCPG for 27 years since joining the council in 1998. Before that, he was the director of research at the American Gaming Association.

As executive director, he had been their chief spokesperson, and recently represented the council and the gaming industry at the Senate Judiciary Committee’s federal sports betting hearing last month.

“On behalf of the entire board, I want to thank Keith for his leadership and contributions to the organization during his tenure,” said NCPG Board President Susan Sheridan Tucker.

Nancy Green has been appointed as interim executive director. The NCPG said that Green brings extensive association, nonprofit leadership and program experience to her roles in mission-driven environments. She most recently worked as interim executive director for the American Sustainable Business Network.

“Having guided several organizations through periods of change, I appreciate that maintaining operational excellence and mission focus are paramount during transitions,” said Green. “NCPG’s work in reducing gambling-related harm is too important to pause. The dedicated staff, committed board, and engaged stakeholders will continue driving essential programs and advocacy efforts forward while we chart the organization’s next chapter.”

The NCPG Board of Directors will conduct a national search to identify a permanent executive director later this year.

“During this transition, our mission to lead awareness and advocacy efforts to reduce gambling harm remains our top priority, and we are confident in the team we have in place to seamlessly carry out this vital work,” added Tucker.
