IGT is maintaining a lottery presence in North Carolina through a new contract extension.

The London-based gambling company announced on Thursday a 10-year contract extension with the North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL). The new deal will begin in July 2027 and run through June 2037 adding to a contractual relationship between IGT and the NCEL that began in 2006. Under the terms of the agreement, IGT will provide upgraded back-office business applications, up to 8,500 new terminals, 500 vending machines and 2,000 lottery play centers. IGT will also deploy its lottery-focused central system Aurora.

It secured the extension via its subsidiary, IGT Global Solutions Corporation.

“The NCEL is among the top 10 most successful lotteries in the U.S., and IGT is excited to upgrade its retail technology with our high-performing solutions, and help it drive sales growth,” said IGT COO of Global Lottery Jay Gendron. “IGT’s future-forward technology will provide the systems and equipment needed for the NCEL to work effectively and efficiently for its players, its retail partners, and the good causes it serves.”

IGT’s new deal with the NCEL adds to recent contract extensions for its lottery business.

In January, IGT Global Solutions agreed to a three-year deal with the Virginia Lottery. The deal, which includes point-of-sale hardware upgrades, has one-year extension options.

IGT Global Solutions extended its contract with the Mississippi Lottery Corporation in May for an additional three years. Two months later, it agreed to a seven-year contract with the Colorado Lottery that includes both online and retail operations across the state. As part of the deal, IGT replaced retail lottery equipment for brick-and-mortar establishments.

As of October 2024, IGT provides lottery technology to 26 of the 46 lotteries in the U.S. It also has a global lottery presence serving eight of the world’s top 10 largest lotteries.
