Two sports betting brands are making efforts to support wildfire relief efforts in California.
Flutter Entertainment and its FanDuel brand are donating $250,000 to support communities impacted by the wildfires in the greater Los Angeles area. The wildfires, which have claimed the lives of at least 24 people, are expected to cause approximately $275 billion in damages and economic losses, according to a study conducted by AccuWeather.
FanDuel and its owner Flutter are making the donation to non-profit organization AmeriCares and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. Flutter and its FanDuel brand are supporting wildfire relief efforts with nearly 400 employees based in Los Angeles. Flutter’s FanDuel TV operations are also located in Los Angeles County’s Culver City.
“FanDuel and Flutter have been proud members of the Los Angeles business community for over two decades. We are heartbroken by the devastating loss these wildfires have created in a community we call home,” said FanDuel CEO Amy Howe. “We are committed to ensuring our employees are safe and making sure the community has the resources it needs to support the heroic efforts of our first responders.”
Flutter’s donation to the LAFD foundation will be allocated toward programs and vital equipment while AmeriCares will use the contribution to address urgent healthcare needs.
FanDuel joined by emerging brand
Fanatics is also making efforts to support communities impacted by the wildfires.
The e-commerce giant, which launched Fanatics Sportsbook in 2024, is partnering with a group of Los Angeles-based pro sports teams and leagues to launch a relief campaign.
The campaign, L.A. Strong, features a merchandise collection produced by Fanatics that will see 100% of profits from purchases donated to the American Red Cross and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. The campaign has garnered support from the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Chargers, LAFC, and USC.
