New Zealand Esports Federation has joined the Esports Integrity Commission.

The NZESF, which is a government-recognised national sporting organisation (NSO), will work with ESIC to integrate the commission’s integrity program into its operations and all of its sanctioned events.

The national body is focused on esports regulation in New Zealand and the development of pathways for the young players of esports to reach higher competition levels.

Ben Lenihan, NZESF President said: “Part of the NSO’s mandate is to ensure that events we sanction are held in accordance with our standards.”

This is relevant because gambling has become a larger part of esports. “We have partnered with ESIC to provide sanctioned tournament organizers with top-notch monitoring and investigative services.”

ESIC Commissioner Ian Smith said: “ESIC recognizes NZESF’s commitment to an uniform and global standard of competitive integrity in the esports.

As a member, NZESF can engage us in discussions on topics that have a direct impact on youth protection and competition integrity. The NZESF members can also benefit from a worldwide network that provides information on the preservation of competition integrity at events.

ESIC slammed a false narrative that was spread in April about its involvement with the esports gambling industry.
