Westdeutsche Lotterie, the North-Rhine Westphalia state lottery will invest EUR48m to overhaul its entire retail network.

By 2026, the investment in 3,200 retail outlets throughout North Rhine-Westphalia will be complete. This is to provide a better experience to customers.

WestLotto’s managing director Andreas Kotter said the investment would increase the quality and availability of the company’s points of sales, while also helping cross-sell its customers to its online offerings.

He explained that the increase in Lotto 6-aus-49 ticket price implemented in 2020 would also allow the lottery to invest additional revenues into the network of its retail partners, calling them the “most important link” to the customers.

Kotter stated that “Our gaming points offer an enjoyable and safe experience for our customers every day.” We want them to be future-proofed.

In 2020, the lottery industry in Germany grew significantly. This resulted in a return of EUR3.1bn to states through taxes and duties.
