MGM Resorts and Playtech have partnered to offer a Live Casino offering from Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Hotel and Bellagio.
Playtech announced that operators outside the US will have access to MGM Live’s single-zero and double zero roulette, baccarat and other games.
Shimon Akad, Playtech’s COO and Chief Operating Officer (COO), told iGaming Business that Mexico and the UK would be MGM Live’s initial target markets. Additional regulated markets are expected to follow.
Akad said, “We’ll review this over time in accordance with the igaming regulations and the US gaming regulation.”
The Las Vegas gaming experience is the best in the industry. Akad stated that [customers in regulated market] would experience authentic sounds and images of Vegas, and in the future immersive entertainment experiences.
The Live Dealer product offers “unparalleled” experiences
Bill Hornbuckle, MGM Resorts’ chief executive, said that the content, celebrity talents and sophisticated gaming experiences will be unparalleled in the industry.
Hornbuckle stated that the launch of this exciting new live casino, which is in partnership with Playtech, and direct from Bellagio Grand and MGM Grand Las Vegas, advances our vision to become the premier gaming entertainment provider in world.
Playtech’s CEO Mor Weizer said he is thrilled to be partnering with “a world-renowned entertainment and gaming brand”, MGM Resorts.
He said, “This partnership amplifies the commitment we have to provide our customers with unparalleled experiences. It also expands our reach globally.”
This alliance brings together the global reputation of MGM Resorts with Playtech’s international market expertise and innovative games.
Playtech plans to expand MGM Live
The portfolio will be expanded with access to exclusive Playtech games and TV shows. Celebrity-hosted trivia show, for example, or other unique entertainment experiences.
Akad explained that the game show will be a Vegas-style attraction, with celebrity hosts and all the glamour and charisma. This is what they are currently developing for players.
Playtech’s COO stated that it was an honour to be selected as MGM Resorts technology partner.
He added, “[We] have a shared vision of developing and delivering innovative entertainment products and services in the digital gaming and digital spaces.”
MGM Resorts achieves lofty ambitions in omnichannel
Bill Hornbuckle, MGM’s CEO in December 2023, told iGB that the company was aiming to build a complete omnichannel eco-system across Europe.
It was a follow-up to the acquisition of LeoVegas for $604m. After that acquisition, BetMGM launched in the UK to target growth in areas where they didn’t have an existing land-based operation.
We want to diversify our digital offerings through BetMGM – both in the United States and internationally – as well as LeoVegas, whether it’s Europe, Canada, or South America. Hornbuckle stated that they thought it was a great way to keep in touch with customers all year round.
He spoke of plans to link online gaming with brick and mortar opportunities. These plans are helped by the acquisition of Push Gaming following LeoVegas’ takeover.
Hornbuckle stated that the idea of creating our own games was important. It would feed both our digital and brick-and mortar assets.
