Lithuanian gambling revenues reach EUR116m thanks to online slots.

The gambling revenue of Lithuania in the first half increased by 12.6% on an annual basis to EUR116.0m ($126.7m/PS99.3m). A strong performance online offset a decrease in revenue from land-based casinos.

The Lithuania Gaming Control Authority reported that H1 revenues were EUR 108.5 million less than the EUR 108.5 million recorded in the same period of last year.

The channel’s revenue grew 12.5% on an annual basis to EUR72.2m. The amount of money spent by players increased 8.7%, to EUR1.05bn. They also won $973.1m.

Lithuania’s online gambling market is dominated by slots

In H1, the most popular online slot games were those in category A – with their unlimited wins. The revenue generated by these slots was EUR53.5m, which is more than the other segments in both online and offline markets in Lithuania. The market high for player spending was EUR627.7m (up 6.2%).

In H1, revenue for Category B slots was EUR1.8m, with maximum bets at LTL1 (0.33 EUR) and winnings limited to 200x customer stakes. Online table game revenue also increased 11.7% to EUR6.7m.

The revenue from sports betting increased by 1.6% during the first half of this year, with wagers increasing 2.4%.

The land-based market shrank in H1

The total revenues in the land-based sector fell by 4.4% to EUR34.7m. This was due to a 5.6% drop in player stakes, which totalled EUR217.8m.

The most popular slot machine in retail was the Category B, with revenues of EUR14.4m. This is a decline of 6.5%. The amount wagered by players on these slot machines fell 6.5%, to EUR92.1m.

Revenue for Category A slot machines was up 5.3% year on year at EUR7.9m. Staking increased by 4.7%, to EUR31.8m.

The revenue for table games fell 9.1%, to EUR8.0m. And the revenue for sports betting dropped 6.4%, to EUR4.4m.

Lotteries have enjoyed a positive period in Lithuania

The Lithuania Gaming Control Authority published separate data about lotteries from the major figures. The gross gaming revenues from lotteries reached EUR32.7m in the first half of this year, an increase of 6.2%.

Total ticket sales increased 1.1%, to 50.40 million euros. The player winnings increased by 2.3%, to EUR38.1m.

The market derived tax revenues of EUR37,6m from this gambling activity. EUR24.1m of this total came from the gambling operators, and EUR13.5m was generated by lottery providers.
