Oliver Slipper, co-founder of Stats Perform and PickGuru has launched a new social gaming platform.
This platform is supported by PS2.6m in seed funding (EUR3.1m/$3.5m), from several angel investors. It will enable fans to compete against each other, or to form mini-leagues, to win cash.
The leaderboards will update dynamically and award prizes to players as the game progresses.
PickGuru gathered a group of angel investors to fund a round of seed financing in support of its launch.
This round of funding generated PS2.6m and featured support from former Paddy Power communications director, Simon Wear (founder and chairman of Global Cycling Network), Oliver and Alexander Kent Braham, founders and recent unicorn Marshmallow and Grabyo’s Will Neale.
Slipper, who founded Matulo Software in 2004, will be chairman of PickGuru. Paul Cobley and Jon Owen, founders of Pitch International and Jon Youell are also on board. Adam Perrin is co-founder and former brand director of Paddy Power and Masomo Games.
PickGuru seeks to fill ten roles in development, compliance, and marketing. It plans to hire another 20 positions over the course of the next year and launch the service at the beginning of 2022.
Slipper stated that “after months of hard work and massive investment, we are proud to build the first UK focused platform which uniquely combines fantasy sports, live action and gaming elements. We strongly believe the users will enjoy the results.”
The business is a success because of their support.
