Pennsylvania igaming revenue continues to break records in November

Pennsylvania’s igaming operators have once again set a new US monthly revenue record in November, while the state’s sportsbooks continued their momentum from the previous month.

In a report, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board declared that the state’s combined total revenue during the month was $452.4m, an increase of 4.59% year-over-year compared to November 2021’s revenue of $432.5m.

Per operator, Hollywood Casino at Penn National earned the most total revenue in November with $71.2m (2021: $60.1m), followed by Valley Forge Casino Resort with $64.6m (2021: $57.1m), and Parx Casino with $52.6m (2021: $56.3m). Operators paid $181.8m in taxes to the Keystone State during the month.

Retail slots generated the biggest share in revenue with $185.6m. However, it was igaming that saw the largest income percentage change YoY, standing at 37.01%, setting a new revenue record of $128.6m. Meanwhile, sports wagering revenue dropped by 16.95% YoY.

Pennsylvania’s igaming revenue of $128.6m is a 37.01% YoY improvement (2021: $93.9m), as well as a new record amount for the vertical in the state, beating the previous high set last month of $124.5m. The vertical also paid a new monthly high in taxes to the state, contributing $53.5m.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National led all igaming operators with $55.7m revenue (2021: $37.4m), followed by Rivers Casino Philadelphia with $27.5m (2021: $24.2m), and Valley Forge Casino Resort with $26.5m (2021: $16.5m).

While Hollywood Casino at Penn National was top in terms of igaming slots and table games revenue (slots: $36.4m, table games: $18.9m), Mount Airy Casino Resort led the way in igaming poker revenue with $1.6m.

Slot machine revenue of $185.6m was a slight improvement of 0.04% YoY (2021: $185.5m), with the number of slot machines in operation dropping to 25,430 (2021: 25,526).

Parx Casino led all operators in retail slots income with $30m (2021: $31.6m), followed by Wind Creek Bethlehem with $20.9m (2021: $22.6m), and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh with $20.9m (2021: $21.1m).

Retail table games generated revenues of $79.2m, a drop of 4.43% YoY (2021: $82.9m). Per operator, Wind Creek Bethlehem led the way with $19.6m in revenue (2021: $19m), followed by Parx Casino with $16.2m (2021: $17.7m), and Rivers Casino Philadelphia with $8.8m (2021: $9.6m).

Retail slots paid $94.3m in state taxes for November, while retail table games paid $12.8m.

Pennsylvania’s sportsbooks achieved a November handle of $789.2m, a 3.63% increase YoY (2021: $761.6m), and taxable revenues of $52.8m, a 16.95% decline YoY (2021: $63.7m) with $48.2m coming from online operations. Sports wagering generated $19m in taxes for the state.

Per operator, FanDuel (Valley Forge) was top with $28.6m in revenue (2021: $29.2m), followed by DraftKings (Hollywood Meadows) with $12.2m (2021: $12m). No other operator made over $2.5m in revenue, as BetMGM (Hollywood Morgantown) was the next highest operator in terms of revenue with $2.4m (2021: $307,046).
