Jacobs Entertainment is now open to the public about a multi-year masterplan that will see a $300m redevelopment at the former Sands Regency.
The Reno, Nevada-based property will use the J Resort title. It will be developed in a series of phases as part of what the group calls “another chapter in the revitalization of downtown Reno”.
John East will be the interim president of J Resort, in an effort to secure a strong first chapter for Jacobs Entertainment.
“After five years’ worth of land assemblage and design, we are happy to announce J Resort, Jacobs Entertainment’s flagship property and Nevada’s first entertainment-themed resort property,” stated Jeff Jacobs CEO of Jacobs Entertainment.
“J Resort sets a new standard for northern Nevada resort properties. We will highlight more than $100m worth of sculptures and paintings throughout J Resort’s property, in addition to those that are displayed along Reno’s Neon Line.
The company decided to open half the casino floor as well as more than 500 rooms that were newly renovated, despite the fact that phase one was not due for completion until June.
A completely renovated casino will be completed in three months. It will feature over 600 new gaming slots, more than 1,000 parking spaces, artwork, and a trifecta of food and/or drink outlets.
A $100m second stage, which will add a 400-position extension to the gaming area, an indoor/outdoor spa, sports lounge, and other eateries, will follow.
The final phase of venue growth, which is being detailed, will eventually employ more than 2,000 people in this region. It will include a Mountain View outdoor amphitheatre and outdoor day pool that seats 6,500, a 3,500-seat Vegas style indoor showroom, 400-seat dinner theatre, zip line 150ft above Reno, over 100,000 square footage of conference space, and more than 1,200 additional resort guestrooms.
Jacobs said, “We are confident that J Resort as well as The Glow Plaza Festival Grounds” will continue to grow and evolve in Reno/Sparks’ and Lake Tahoe regions. We are proud to have doubled our efforts in Reno.
