Grand Island Casino Resort officially opened their temporary casino on December 27, with the participation of several local and state officials.
As guests eagerly awaited the opening, a line formed early in the morning. While waiting eagerly for the doors of the casino to open, guests enjoyed drinks and snacks.
Fonner Park CEO Chris Kotulak, and Elite Casino Resorts CEO Dan Kehl made remarks, before welcoming guests who were eager to get in the temporary casino.
Elite Casino Resorts CEO Dan Kehl stated that they are thrilled to work with Fonner park to create a temporary casino, and eventually a world-class resort casino, at the racetrack. We are looking forward to providing outstanding service to all our guests and showing our values to the community.
My mission is to care for horses, riders, staff, and guests at Fonner Park. Chris Kotulak, CEO of Fonner Park said that the introduction of casinos revenue will help us resurrect a once-thriving Thoroughbred racing business in Nebraska.
This temporary casino, which is located in Fonner Park, adjacent to Van Berg Racing Collection, the Nebraska Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame, has approximately 300 slots machines and kiosks for horse betting. It also features a snack bar.
The temporary casino will be open until construction on the resort’s full version is complete. The full resort will be completed in fall 2023. It will have 650 slots, 20 tables games and a sportsbook.
Grand Island Casino opens seven days per week, from 8 AM to midnight on Sunday through Thursday until 3 AM Saturday. The holiday hours may be extended. To gain access to the casino, guests must present valid identification in compliance with Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission rules.
