The annual Monster Hunt was both a booyah and boohoo experience for many. Kevin Dale, from Egamingmonitor, looks at this year’s top Halloween games and the charts for casinos.

Book Of Dead by Play’n GO, even though it is not a Halloween-themed title, topped our casino chart in October. The little aliens from Reactoonz are less scary. Their revival was boosted by pre-marketing for Gargantoonz. The first Energoonz cluster slot was launched 10 years ago, so it’s only fitting that a clock is used to count down the days until the new sequel.

The Top 20 Games by Distribution

Big Bass Halloween by Pragmatic play, which was released a bit late, may have been the only newcomer on the top charts. Even with a large budget and an efficient distribution system, seasonal releases are not guaranteed to be on schedule.

The annual freak show ….

Our Halloween Top 20 based on the distribution of games across 3,000 operators sites. We have kept the selection as diverse as possible by only including the best-performing game from each studio.

Despite its late release, Big Bass Halloween managed to knock Bloodsuckers from NetEnt and Immortal Romance from Microgaming down the list of old favorites. Count Jokula was also demoted by Play’n GO. The Big Bass guy also thought that the link between horror and fish was tenuous. He was dressed in dungarees, but a dark macintosh, and he carried a hook in his hand like a grim reaper.

It was also good to see a few games from Habanero and Thunderkick that were themed around the Day of the Dead Festival, as well as some Voodoo magic from Greentube.

We reveal the best Halloween games for this year below. Half of them also appeared in our Halloween chart. There are many classic themes throughout, and a few variations in the seriousness or humor of their approaches to this theme. Nolimit City and Hacksaw Gaming are up against Red Rake Gaming Pearfiction Studios 1X2 Network in the Exorcist Vs Casper The Friendly Ghost stakes. There may be no real competition since the games appeal to people with different interests – some enjoy missing beats, while others are scared of their shadow.

Red Rake Gaming, Bgaming, and other companies have managed to bring together all the spirits in one place – mummies and zombies as well as vampires and Frankenstein. But it is often the pan-wielding grandmother, like the character Granny vs Zombies, that’s the most frightening of them.

Spinomenal, with another dozen scary launches in 2023 topped the list. Inbet Games and Pragmatic Play were also very successful. Nolimit City’s Halloween philosophy is not a seasonal event, but rather a year-round concept. There are plenty of dark themed games coming from this studio. They also have a subtle malevolence in their titles. The Crypt was one.
