In August, Indiana’s player spending on sports betting remained flat year-on-year at $238.1m ($191.0m PS/EUR222.2m), while revenues fell slightly.
The $238.0m monthly handle reported in August 2022 was 16.8% higher than the $203.8m in Indiana July this year.
Baseball was the most popular sport for consumers again, with bets totaling $66.8m. Basketball bets totaled $19.8m, football $17.3m while other sports attracted $63.0m. Parlay bets accounted for another $70.7m.
In August, gross revenues adjusted for taxation were $23.5m. This was 7.5% less than the $25.4m reported last year, but still only slightly below $23.3m for July 2023.
Blue Chip Casino and FanDuel dominate Indiana
Blue Chip Casino, along with FanDuel, continued to dominate the market. They had $8.5m of revenue and $71.1m in handle. Ameristar Casino & DraftKings had an even higher handle at $95.6m, but lacked behind in terms of revenue with $7.7m.
Belterra Casino, along with FanDuel, rounded out the top three places in terms of revenue. The two casinos combined had a total bet amounting to $20.5m.
During the month, the state collected $22 million in sports betting taxes.
