The public continues to be encouraged by the proposed casinos in the downstate New York. Jay Z’sentertainment firm Roc Nationtook a Twitter letter last week advocating for a Times Square Casino in partnership with Caesars Entertainment.
In the letter, the company asserts that it is committed to preserving the culture and history of Times Square.
The winning license must put the residents’ well-being at the forefront of its agenda. The letter stated that this was a very important moment in the history of our city. “Roc Nation and partners are here to make sure Times Square is connected to all facets culture. The Crossroads is the perfect location for Caesars Palace to host its entertainment.
The letter also listed the benefits that the property would bring the city. These included improved sanitation, mass transit and a general boost for businesses in the area.
The casino was said to “protect” the interests and the theater district of Times Square. This has been a topic of intense debate around the proposal.
A group of theaters and restaurants in the area recently formed The No Times Square Coalition. They oppose the project because they are concerned that it could jeopardize decades spent rehabilitating the area. The theater community is still opposed to a casino being built in the area, despite the influence that Jay Z and Roc Nation have.
The Community Advisory Committeewill be responsible for advising the New York Gaming Facility Location Boardif there is enough community support for the proposal to proceed in the competitive bid process.
