Top Sport was fined EUR25,000 ($26,805) after allowing an individual who had previously self-excluded themselves from gambling access to its igaming service.
In March of this year, the Lithuanian Gambling Supervisory Authority was notified by the individual that he had accessed their account. The individual had registered for the self-exclusion program in Lithuania’s October 2022.
The regulator conducted an investigation and found that the player had self-excluded himself on 31st October of last year. The individual did, however, gamble online with Top Sport twice on 11 and 22 November.
The Authority noted that the player could remain logged into their Top Sport account even after they had self-excluded.
According to Article 10 Paragraph 21 in the Lithuanian Gambling Law, licensees are required to restrict access to those who have signed up for the self-exclusion program. It also included preventing them from logging into their account.
Top Sport was found to have violated the law by the regulator, and the fine was issued. The decision, as with any case in Lithuania, could be appealed.
