GamCare, a British charity, has launched a range of digital products and services that will help people who are struggling with gambling.
MyGamCare is an online portal that allows users to manage their gambling journey and understand how it may impact their money, time, and relationships.
You can set goals, access content that is personalized to you, track your moods, and access resources to support and help you on your journey with gambling.
MyGamCare will be an extension of the National Gambling Helpline. GamCare has been in operation for more than 25 years. The helpline received a record number, with over 3,700 calls and chats, an increase of 17% from the previous year.
GamCare’s digital push will see GamCare expand the National Gambling Helpline, so users can reach the service via WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger.
“Almost four out of five people who used GamCare services last year mentioned issues with online gambling. We know that the nature and character of gambling has changed substantially over the past 10 years, and that more can and should be done to reach people when and wherever the harm is occurring,” Anna Hemmings, chief executive at GamCare, said.
“With MyGamCare, along with our WhatsApp Messenger and Facebook Messenger capabilities, we hope to make it easier for people to access help faster and to find support in a way that suits them.
We know how hard it can be to take the first step and that many people may not feel comfortable talking about gambling. It is important to have the option for people to begin that journey in whatever way suits them best.
