In January, Rhode Island’s sportsmen wagered $62.3 million. However, the state’s revenue remained flat year-on-year.
The consumer spending rose 6.3% over $58.6m in January of last year, and 5.2% more than in December 2022. However, the total exceeded the $61.2m monthly record set in November 2022 by 1.8%.
Online betting was responsible for $37.5m in January wagers. Retail spend was $24.8m. It was split $17.2m at Twin River Casino and $7.7m at Tiverton Casino.
Revenue was $5.2m. This was the same as January 2022, but 16.1% less than December 2012.
Internet gambling generated $4.0m of revenue while retail revenue for this month was $1.2m. This includes $660,792 from Tiverton Casino, and $504,427 Twin River.
In January, $57.2 million was won by players from sports betting.
The state’s financial year to date was $332.9m. Revenue was $34.6m, and player wins were $298.3m.
