Mohegan, a tribal gaming operator, has named Cody Chapman its new director of public relations.
Chapman is a Mohegan Tribe member and has been with Mohegan ever since 2007. In 2015, he was appointed PR manager of the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.
Chapman, who will be the PR director, will oversee the department’s public relations efforts and help to set goals. He will also work closely with corporate leadership, Mohegan Sun leaders, corporate communications, and Mohegan PR firm Coyne PR.
Chapman will be assisted by Charisse Huff, the new public relations manager. They will also oversee media relations for Mohegan Sun properties and other Mohegan properties with a focus in the Northeast. Chapman and Huff both will provide support in PR for Mohegan Digital which is Mohegan’s iGaming section.
Huff is the PR manager and will manage day-to-day PR, as well leading efforts for major announcements and key events across Mohegan Sun as well Mohegan Pennsylvania, Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. Jennifer Ballester, vice-president for corporate communications at Mohegan PR is responsible for Mohegan Sun and Mohegan Pennsylvania as well as other Mohegan properties.
Raymond Pineault, CEO of Mohegan Casinos, praised the casino operator for its diversification strategy. Online gaming and sports betting led to an overall increase and increase in net revenue and earnings during the corporation’s first quarter. From December 2022 to December 22nd, net revenues rose by 1.2% to $402.0m and $406.6m respectively. This resulted in a 3.8% increase of adjusted earnings before interest tax depreciation, amortization (EBITDA), from $97.4m up to $101.1m.
Mohegan was named operator by the Soloviev Group for its bid to open a casino at New York City’s Freedom Plaza. The Freedom Plaza project would include a large green area, a state of the-art performance venue, Ferris Wheel and a 1,000-plus-room first-class hotel. There will also be two residential towers.
