MGM Springfield was fined $45,000 by the Investigations and Enforcement Bureau, part of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission due to violations involving underage gambling.
According to MassLive between June 2022 through December 2022, there were multiple incidents at MGM Springfield, where people younger than 21 had access to gaming and the gaming floor.
The MGC said that many instances of gambling were reported by the casino and the casino has accepted the punishment.
“We are grateful that MGM Springfield has self-reported a number of these incidents and continues to cooperate with the MGC to improve practices to prevent future incidents,” said Kathleen Kramer Senior Enforcement Counsel, MGC.
Kramer said that the IEB will continue to monitor MGM Springfield’s compliance and corrective steps.
MGM Springfield has installed more railings near the South End Market food court to prevent anyone under the age of 18 from entering their gaming floor.
Fire safety and accessibility issues are still being studied.
