The commissioners of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission were divided on the sports that US Integrity wanted to include in the state’s betting catalog. However, they all agreed on one thing: Slap fight betting is not allowed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
US Integrity sent requests to the commission for Dana White’sventure Pro League Networks SlapFIGHT and Pro League Networks SlapFIGHT . The Nevada State Athletic Commission licenses the former, even though it has no player’s association or regulatory body. Although the latter had a governing group, it did not have much influence on commissioners’ decisions.
The slap fight is played in both leagues. It’s as easy as it sounds. The match ends when one person cannot recover from the slaps in the time allowed.
SlapFIGHT is available in a few states, including Connecticut Colorado and Louisiana. Wyoming however, is the only state that offers wagers for Power Slap.
Massachusetts regulators have no desire to join this group.
“I thought the whole power slap was quite disturbing. I could not imagine betting on an event like that. “It’s that simple and straightforward,” said Bradford Hill.
“I agree with Commissioner Hill on [Power Slap] [and] [SlapFIGHT]; that at a time we’re learning more about head injuries and impacts etcetera that [they] even appear on this list, is appalling,” said Eileen O’Brien.
Jordan Maynard , Commissioner, said: “I see no benefits to the Commonwealth which could outweigh the risks or harms.” “Absolutely no.”
Both Commissioner Nakisha skinnerand Chairman Cathy Judd Steinagreed, and both leagues unanimously rejected for inclusion in this catalog.
Some commissioners did not want any other parties to petition to add sports, like mini golf or pro skateboarding. Skinner abstained from voting, resulting in a deadlock of 2-2 that led to the denial of motions. According to the discussion at the meeting, if a state licensee brought the sport before the commission in the future, it could be included.
Pro League Network is trying to add alternative sports like mini golf to the sportsbook’s offering. DraftKings offers lines on SlapFIGHT, and others like Carjitsu are trying to gain traction with regulators.
