This is the latest plan, and it comes at the beginning of the new year. Rene Jansen (KSA chairman) stated that the Gambling Authority will protect online gambling but also target illegal physical games of chance. These games include illegal gambling, such as poker, lottery, and slot machines.
KSA chairman said that inspectors will travel the country in 2023. The gambling watchdog will work with partners and local authorities to crack down on illegal physical operators. The KSA will work with its partners to help it achieve this goal. They will also collaborate effectively to establish a regional network. The watchdog also stated that it will recruit more inspectors to expand its capabilities.
” We are looking for physically illegal games of chance with our partners. This includes operating slot machines, pokers, lotteries, and lotteries without a licence to gambling terminals that can be used for illegal sports betting.
Rene Jansen, chairman of the KSA, writes a blog entry
Illegal Gambling Operations pose a threat to customers
Jansen admitted that illegal gambling is not the same as a “romanticized, old-fashioned image” of a game in which players play bingo in a darkened room behind a curtain in a brown cafe. However, Jansen explained that illegal gambling operators participate in money laundering and bypass any consumer protection protocols.
Jansen also stated that some illegal retail activities are small in scale. He reiterated, however, that illegal gambling involves money laundering which ultimately poses a threat for customers.
The KSA chairman pointed out that there were “undermining” efforts. Jansen explained: “In additional to warm political interest at this theme in The Hague,” many municipalities are also looking to counter undermining and so discourage and disrupt criminals. However, Jansen believes that a strong partnership between the KSA, regional inspectors, and the KSA can be a key to achieving the goal of reducing illegal gambling operations.
This announcement follows a KSA fine of almost $1 million issued recently against Shark77. The watchdog stated that the operator was offering illegal online gambling services, which is in violation of the Gambling Act. The regulator found that Shark77 allowed Dutch players to access its website and did not block Dutch customers from depositing money.
