Konami Gaming licensed its facial recognition technology to a New South Wales-based manufacturer Independent Gaming.
Synk Vision is a tech that allows players to sign in to the Synkros player loyalty program at EGMs or table games by simply sitting down before such an offer. Rather than using a traditional magnetic card, they can use the Synk Vision technology.
This gaming manufacturer provides equipment, jackpot systems, and technical services. It has over 5,000 machines in the state.
Lawrence Shepherd is Independent Gaming’s Managing Director. He commented, “Independent Gaming are happy to have reached an arrangement with a great company like Konami.
“Our IP agreement to facial recognition in all our NextNet gaming platforms continues our technological advancements.
“Biometrics in our player systems provides many options for player functions and operator, ensuring that our gaming customers have decisive accessibility to key facial recognition solution.”
Konami has welcomed the agreement as part of a concerted effort by Konami to make its tech more accessible to more properties around the world. The facial recognition module for Synkros was introduced at G2E 2019
“Konami Gaming continues to invest in future innovations, and we are excited for this opportunity to make our facial recognition intellectual properties available to operators across diverse markets around the world in different forms,” stated Tom Jingoli.
“We are grateful for the collaboration with Independent Gaming in this agreement.”
Recent weeks have seen a lot of conversation about pokies in Australia. New South WalesPremier Dominic Perrottet launched what was called “one of Australia’s biggest gambling reforms” under “historical changes” as part a five-year plan.
In response to many reports of money laundering through electronic gaming machines, the NSW Liberal and Nationals governments would make all such machines cashless by December 31, 2028. A number of features would be included in the cashless shift to reduce problem gambling.
