International Game Technology (IGT), a global supplier of lottery and gaming solutions, announced that it has reached an agreement with BetSkybox in order to expand its PlaySports technology’s reach in Ohio.
Sport betting at bars and restaurants
IGT and BetSkybox, which is a division Skybox Sports Network’s Skybox Sports Network, have reached an agreement that will allow the supplier of gambling technology to deploy its PlaySports QuickBet Kiosks in restaurants and bars throughout the state to offer them retail sports betting.
Ron Frederickson, President of Skybox Sports Network/BetSkybox commented on the development. He said, “Thrilled to deliver IGT’s award-winning sports gambling technology” to BetSkybox’s small business partners and enable them to offer Ohio sports fans “the convenience of PlaySports’ online betting solution.”
He concluded that “IGT’s highly-performing betting options will add an additional layer of excitement as patrons gather in these social establishments for their favorite sports and team,”
BetSkybox, a Las Vegas-based company, was approved recently by the Ohio Lottery & Ohio Casino Control Commission to obtain a Type C Proprietor Gaming License. It plans to install sports betting kiosks at pre-approved locations throughout Ohio.
Joe Asher, President of Sports Betting at IGT, stated that “Expanding IGT PlaySports’ footprint in Ohio through our partnership With BetSkybox increases opportunities for sports fans throughout Ohio to enjoy premium betting experiences while watching games at restaurants or bars.”
Asher continued his remarks by pointing out the loyal and engaged fans of Ohio’s high-profile professional and college sports teams. He also cited the “simplicity” and “intuitive nature of IGT PlaySports kiosks as key features that will allow any fan to responsibly bet on their favorite teams.
Sports Tickers and Odds Boards
BetSkybox will also provide the PlaySports QuickBet Kiosks with its core product line, which includes sports tickers, and odds boards. This will enhance the sports betting experience at the bars and restaurants by giving them a sportsbook feel using light, color, and motion.
BetSkybox’s launch will expand IGT PlaySports’ footprint in Ohio. The supplier of betting technology has previously deployed its solutions in Ohio with class A and Class C licensee partners. This addition to the more 80 gaming venues IGT powers with sports betting solutions in the US and Canada is a significant step in IGT PlaySports.
The BetSkybox agreement came on the heels of an agreement with another type B Proprietor license holder UBetOhio last month, under which IGT deployed its PlaySports QuickBet Kiosks in restaurants and bars throughout Ohio.
