This season, the Canadian Football League (CFL) is introducing a new data collection system to enhance the experience of fans, players and other stakeholders.
CFL LiveStats was created by Genius Sports, the league’s data and technology partner. It uses official data for live betting, augmented broadcasts and tracking, as well as CFL Game Zone. This includes the new CFL Fantasy, and CFL Pick ‘Em games, which were launched last month, in the league’s revamped platform.
CFL LiveStats is the latest addition to the platform, and it captures the official play-byplay updates for every game.
Chief Operating Officer, CFL David Goldstein stated that was excited to use this technology to tell the story about our league. Genius Sports’ LiveStats tool and the CFL’s top-notch action are changing how fans, media, and stakeholders interact with CFL athletes and their world-class performance.
Better data will result in a better experience for CFL fans, including interactive gaming, sports betting, and much more.
CFL LiveStats, with its integration and distribution via the Match State Platform, will begin providing live play-byplay data this week. It will also enable the sharing of betting information, team and player data for all CFL games.
The CFL will coordinate efforts to ensure that the lowest latency is available to authenticated partners. New features, including publically-accessible play-by-play statistics and historical data will be introduced throughout the season.
“Powered by LiveStats the CFL’s data ecosystem will create a wealth of engagement opportunities for their fans and broadcasters.
We’re thrilled to take our partnership to the next step, implementing technology used in more than 150 countries to capture statistics as quickly and accurately as possible.
Although the regular season is a few months away, the Calgary Stampeders will host their first match against the BC Lions on Sunday, June 8. However preparations have already begun to improve the CFL experience.
