Genius Sports, a sports data and tech company, has extended its partnership with National Basketball Association. Second Spectrum will become the official provider of NBA league pass augmentation under the multi-year agreement expansion. The brand will also be named as the official provider of basketball analytics by the association under the multi-year deal.
Second Spectrum and the NBA have agreed to collaborate on the development of a next-generation tech platform called Dragon. This solution will track “mesh”, which will allow the NBA to synthesize millions of on-court data points.
Second Spectrum Will Bolster NBA Data
Official announcement states that Second Spectrum’s Augmentation Tech will be used by the NBA to create automated and enhanced graphics using optical on-court data. This data will be used to power other telecasts on NBA League Pass. The telecasts can now include statistical insights from players and teams that are directly integrated into the stream.
The NBA can greatly enhance viewers’ experiences by leveraging this enhanced data. Fans of the game and those who are interested in detailed analytics will be able further immerse their selves in it.
Genius Sports also announced that all official NBA data will be continued to be integrated into their top-notch basketball analytics and insight engine. The sports data specialist will continue to offer its services to all 30 NBA team teams in return. Second Spectrum’s machine learning technology is used by all franchises to help them understand the game better and make informed decisions.
