Genius Sports and Snap Inc have signed a deal to provide NFL fans with augmented reality experiences via the Snapchat platform.
Genius Sports, through its exclusive NFL league data deal with Snapchat Lens, will offer fans highly-shared content. The lens will debut this weekend at SoFi stadium for the LA Rams vs San Francisco 49ers match. It will feature real-time match statistics, AR merchandise and a 3-D interactive map of each stadium.
The lens will only be available to Verizoncustomers. Verizon is the official network for the NFL.

Verizon will be the first company to use Genius Sports NFL Technology for this purpose. They plan to share data visualizations, AR commerce content and other AR-related materials to further engage NFL fans. Snapchat boasts over 750 millions monthly users, and more than five billion snap messages per day are sent.

Genius Sports recently extended its deal to the NFL until 2027/28. Genius Sports will continue to hold the official data feed for sports betting, and be equipped with Next Gen Stats.
Second Spectrum, a subsidiary of Genius, has embedded NGS feed into NFL broadcasts across the country.
In 2021, the NFL selected Genius Sports as its official data partner and streaming partner. Since then, both organizations claim that they have “set new standards for data-driven engagement of fans”.
