On Thursday, prosecutors announced that they had filed criminal charges against Joseph Garrison, who, with his accomplices and in an attack launched against popular sportsbook operators, stole $600,000.000 from 1,600 accounts.
FanDuel had been the victim of a similar attack in the same month. FanDuel, however, argued that the company had been able withstand the attacks and that no consumers were affected.

DraftKings released a statement on the incident, which was distributed to media outlets including CNBC who reported this story originally. DraftKings stated that its customers’ safety was paramount to it in the statement.

DraftKings confirmed that the funds were returned to affected users. The investigators were alerted, and the chase for those responsible began. Authorities visited Garrison’s house on February 23. They executed a search warrant, and found a number cell phones and computers that were used to both perpetrate the attack and communicate with co-conspirators.
