Coljuegos is the Colombian gambling regulator. It shared the country’s financial results for 2022. The country received $175m from gambling, an 18% increase over 2021.
The Colombian online market is still years ahead of Latin American countries, but casinos and bingo halls were first on the list of verticals that generated the most revenue in 2022 with $70.3m. This is a 33% increase over 2021 due to electronic slot machines.
Online gambling generated $56.1 million, Super Astro, $11.7m Baloto and $1m promotional games.
Localized games also generated $8.8m which represents an 11% increase year-over-year.
According to Cesar Augusto Valiano , President of Coljuegos , there has been a significant increase in both betting numbers as well as exploitation rights.
The President also highlighted the Qatar World Cup which “met all expectations” and “primarily benefitted the health of Colombians.”
The Health sector saw a $22.5m allocation in 2022. This is almost double the amount it reported between January 2021 and October 2021 when it received $122.7m in contributions.
The total was $33m for the municipalities and the departments, and $105.6m for the entity responsible for managing health and social security (ADRES).
Additionally, $13.5m was assigned to the National Pension Fund for Territorial Entities, and $9.9m went to the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation.
90.4 million was contributed by physical games like Raspa&Listo, Loteria and Chance. The revenues from these three modalities reached $74.7m, which is 22% more than the same period in 2021.
The president concluded the report by stating that Coljuegos had a year with “excellent dynamics,” which will enable Coljuegos to be “optimistic about meeting the challenges and goals of 2023.”
