Lotteritilsynet (the Norwegian Gaming Authority) has announced that following an audit, several operators will be pulling their gambling services from the Nordic country.
Lotteritilsynet named Unibet as well as Betsson, ComeOn, and bet365 in its list of 15 operators who are leaving the Norwegian gambling industry.
Henrik Nordal is the Deputy Director of Lotteritilsynet.
The fact that some of the biggest gambling companies operating illegally in Norway have withdrawn will help prevent gambling issues and promote a safer, more responsible gaming environment on the Norwegian market.
Unibet is the only company that has withdrawn from the country. The rest of them are Betsson Betsafe Nordicbet Norgesautomaten CasinoEuro ComeOn bet365 People’s Kingdom GetLucky Mobilebet Mobile Automaton Mobile Automaton
Nordal added: “This proves that regulation works.” Illegal companies are now unable to operate in Norway. We offer advice to companies that wish to leave the Norwegian market.
Lotteritilsynet said that unless the gambling authority is informed that the companies will withdraw from the Norwegian market, additional audits will be conducted on several of the companies that are operating in the country without a license.
Companies that don’t withdraw from the Norwegian Market risk having their websites blocked when new regulations are implemented next year. The Norwegian players who try to access these pages will be blocked.
