Amelco: Microbetting to drive US growth plans

Amelco has an ambitious growth strategy in the US for 2023. This includes a partnership with micro-betting specialists Simplebet, as well as a cash-out market and a retail launch.

Amelco USA’s Head of Brandon Walker spoke about his confidence in the company ahead of the SBC Summit North America next week, where Amelco USA is the Gold Sponsor.


SBC: Tell us about Amelco’s plans for SBC Summit North America as the headline sponsor.

Brandon Walker: It’s going to be a fantastic show. We have had a wonderful year so far. We will definitely talk about our recent partnerships while making sure that we don’t get complacent. SBC North America is a fantastic opportunity to build our brand while engaging with potential partners and working out how to tailor our product for our customers.

Our partnership is a recent highlight. We are very excited, because micro-betting is a hot topic this year. BetSwap will soon allow us to offer micro-betting as well as a cash-out market. This will be a great way to make them stand out amongst prospective bettors.

Topics such as new states will be hot. This year we have launched in Ohio, Maryland and recorded some of the highest go-live figures ever. In the next few months, we also plan to expand into Massachusetts and Ontario. We’ll have lots to say about these markets.

The iGaming component of our platform will be another important talking point. We’ll launch it this summer in New Jersey.


SBC: You’re touted as North America’s most comprehensive platform. Can you tell us what’s driving your US growth rate?

BW: Amelco aims to create a one-stop-shop that provides all the technological components under one roof. We have roadmaps dedicated to each partner. This ensures that we not only deliver a robust gaming system, but also adhere to the specific requirements of our customers.

We are proud of the continuous improvements we make to our platform. This is done by carefully evaluating the potential of new integrations to add value to our partners.

I think the key to success is having a solid platform, which has been tailored specifically to the American market. To get here, it took a lot time, commitment and effort. But by staying focused, we have solidified our position as one of best.

Our ‘traveling wallet,’ a great example is how we cover all bases. It makes the lives of bettors and operators easier by allowing them to travel between states using the same app. The first movers on the US market had a major hurdle to overcome, since users were required to download new apps every time they crossed state borders.

Our partners were key in making this possible. BetSaracen increased its overall handle by revealing micro-betting in March Madness. We’ve been able do something special with local sport. Arkansas is one the few states without a professional sports team. We’ve therefore worked with BetSaracen in order to provide specialized solutions which can price local college football teams with unmatched efficiency. Our trading team is so good at pricing Arkansas college sports that they are among the best!


SBC: If you look at the past 12 months, Amelco has grown in strength with new states and major expansions with Hard Rock. What are your plans in 2023?

BW: We are planning to grow and improve! We are very excited about the launch of several major operators on the continent in 2023. This year, we also plan to expand to Canada with one of the biggest players in the market. It will be a great opportunity to build our profile across other regions.

Our agenda will also include rolling out new US states in the south. Launching in Maryland will be a historic event, as our retail technology will be the first ever to be used in an NFL stadium.


SBC: You’ve just announced a micro-betting agreement with Simplebet, which is one of the most popular sports betting topics in America. What do you think of the hype and what makes it special?

BW: The partnership is exciting. This is another positive step, with an emphasis on micro-betting. It will help us prepare for several major sporting events in this year, including the MLB season and NBA Playoffs.

Simplebet is available in the 14 states where we currently operate. We are confident that this partnership will help our operators progress. Micro-betting has taken off quickly, and it is the first time punters have been able to bet on single events in real-time. This creates a win for both bettors, and operators. We look forward to what we hope will be a successful step in the right directions.

Simplebet has paved the way for micro-betting, and we’re excited to work together. Offering such a product allows us to provide operators with these fine margins, while complementing on-screen entertainment and high turnover betting.


SBC: Last, but not least. What will you tell delegates about the Amelco expansion and the show?

BW: The show is a fantastic opportunity to build your brand and engage with potential partners. We will be able to determine how to tailor our product delivery to meet the specific needs of our clients.

We believe we are the most comprehensive B2B provider on the market. Visibly, our platform is an all-round, solid product that provides everything operators need to excel in a highly competitive and demanding market.

In the last five years, we have only begun to get started. We are confident that we can add value to the delivery of our product, particularly with the expectations of several big states to regulate in the next few years.

Our proprietary technology will be a major part of what we say. I am confident that it is among the best technologies available. We believe that with our continuous improvement and push for perfection, by the end this year we will be on the right track to challenge big names like DraftKings or FanDuel.

This is a testament to our team’s dedication and tenacity, which has allowed us to perform above our expectations. We look forward to continuing this trend and bringing our partners yet another year of outstanding success.
