Buzz Bingo moves digital business to Merkur Clubs as Merkur acquisition talks continue

Buzz Bingo announced that it will relocate its digital business from Gibraltar to Gibraltar. The operator also said it was in advanced talks to purchase two UK land-based Merkur clubs owned by the Gauselmann group.

Buzz Bingo claims that the Gibraltar relocation will provide several strategic benefits to their business. This includes a closer proximity to key suppliers as well as pursuing international opportunities.

Buzz Bingo says that the move also supports their omnichannel expansion plans. Group retail revenues increased by 5% in 2023 while online revenue rose 31%.

Buzz Bingo’s chief executive Dominic Mansour stated that “with the growing demand for Bingo and our outstanding online performance, Buzz Bingo positions the business for an accelerated growth.” This is the main reason for moving our digital business from Gibraltar to Gibraltar.

Buzz Bingo Set for Double Merkur Purchase

Buzz Bingo has been in discussions with Merkur to buy two UK bingo clubs as part of its growth strategy.

Both clubs are in London, Cricklewood and Northampton. If the expected deal goes through, the two venues will be added to the Buzz Bingo UK retail network.

In 2023, both clubs will welcome more than 410,000 guests. Cricklewood, the UK’s largest bingo hall, is located in Cricklewood. It also holds the Guinness World Record for the biggest single bingo house prize – PS100,000 (EUR116,554/$126,702).

Buzz Bingo claims that the acquisition of two bingo sites in the UK will help it to continue its growth plans. It says that the younger demographic is driving this, as people between 25 and 34 years old will double in number from 2018 to 2023.

Mansour stated that bingo in the UK was experiencing a revival. Buzz Bingo, one of UK’s largest online bingo brands and with the biggest retail footprint is well placed to take advantage of this growth.

After a stabilisation period, the business is now flourishing. After a strong year, we are thrilled to acquire these two bingo clubs.
