The Safer Gaming Week analysis has shown that the campaign had a significant impact and is still a vital platform in encouraging the adoption of relevant tools and solutions.
According to reports, October 2022’s inspection revealed that deposit limits were set by 200,000 accounts. This is an increase of 12.5 percent compared to the previous month.
Additionally, 61% of deposit limit holders did so for the first time, while reality checks were used by 300%.
The cross-sector initiative has also been reported to have “broken previous social media records,” having generated almost 30 million impressions on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. This represents a 21% increase year-over-year.
Michael Dugher is the Chief Executive of BGC. He stated that “Millions” now use safer gambling tools, including timeouts and deposit limits.
“This is a pillar in the regulated gambling and gaming industry. It is in stark contrast to the growing, unsafe, and unregulated online gambling black market that has no of the strict safeguards used by BGC members. Safer Gambling Week is another sign of the industry’s determination and will continue to raise standards.
Dugher also spoke out about the unity of the UK’s regulated gaming and betting industry.
He commented, “When we launched Safer Gambling Week in 2013, there was the usual discredit from the usual suspects of the anti-gambling lobby that want to see less gambling and safer gambling.”
“But millions of people enjoy placing bets on sports, bingo, or gaming. Even though the prevalence of problem gambling has fallen to 0.2%, according to the most recent figures, we want our customers to continue to gamble responsibly and safely. Technology and the regulated sector can help.
“After last year’s remarkable success, we look forward to Safer Gambling Week 2023.”
