AmTote is a company that introduced and leads the idea of PC-Based Account Wagering. This allows customers to access their accounts from anywhere with an Internet connection. They have a system called HomeBet™, which lets account holders place bets, review bets, cancel bets (optional), view race results, and see current race win odds from their own PC. AmTote has set up their HomeBet™ Server in multiple locations and it has been available to the public since April 2000. The server can be configured to work in a closed network or be directly connected to the Internet. Account holders don’t need any special software for their PC, just an Internet Browser. The betting application uses SSL technology and 128 bit encryption to keep transaction data secure.
